BUTTOCK SCULPTING FOR TRAVERSE CITY MEN AND WOMEN
If you have lost your tight, sculpted bottom through aging, childbearing or weight gain and loss cycles, or if you’ve never had the perky derriere you want, a buttock sculpting procedure might be just the thing to give you the high, rounded and firm butt you dream about. JLo and Beyonce were probably born with theirs but, thanks to plastic surgery, any woman can have a beautiful bottom. Butt sculpting goes by several names, including Brazilian Butt Lift, Buttock Lift, Buttock Sculpting and Butt Augmentation. The goal of any and all of these procedures is to give you the bottom you most desire, whether that’s smaller, larger, lifted or sculpted.
Buttock Sculpting can do the following:
- Eliminate sagging and “spread”
- Increase or decrease volume, depending on your needs
- Firm and define the buttocks
- Create better definition between the lower back and the buttocks
Although it’s true that a good diet and exercise program will take you a long way in terms of creating and maintaining a pleasing posterior, genetics play a huge role in the size and shape of your butt. So does weight gain and loss. Even normal-weight men and women can find that their bottom has never been firm and/or has always drooped a bit. This can be resolved in a 1-2 hour procedure performed by Dr. Smith in Traverse City, Michigan.
Buttock sculpting can be performed alone or in combination with another procedure. It’s most often performed at the same time as a breast enhancement, a tummy tuck, a Mommy Makeover or a body lift, but could be added onto any other plastic surgery procedure including facial surgery.
GOOD CANDIDATES FOR BUTTOCK SCULPTING
If you are a healthy adult man or woman who, because of genetics, aging or weight gain/loss cycles has a flat, saggy bottom, or if your bottom is too large and you wish it were smaller and tighter, buttock sculpting might be just right for you. Important caveat: If you’ve lost weight, please lose all the weight you intend to lose prior to your procedure. Buttock sculpting can be undone if you regain all that weight!
Dr. Smith employs two types of incisions in buttock lift surgery: one method places the incisions along the belt line and the other in the buttock crease. Except for the choice of incisions, the procedures are similar. The choice as to incision point will be discussed thoroughly at your private consultation with Dr. Smith at his Traverse City plastic surgery office. Dr. Smith will review all the options for your buttock sculpting procedure with you to ensure that the two of you are in agreement as to the placement of the incisions as well as the goals and timing of your procedure.
HOW TRAVERSE CITY BUTT SCULPTING IS PERFORMED
Dr. F. Matthew Smith performs most of his cosmetic surgeries, including thigh lifts, in the accredited surgery suite at the Munson Medical Center. With the latest, cutting-edge equipment and a fully trained staff, the Munson Medical Center is an ideal place for your procedure. Because Dr. Smith wants to ensure a well-controlled and safe surgical experience that is comfortable for you, general anesthesia is always used for thigh lift procedures.
In general, a buttock sculpting procedure includes liposuction of the surrounding area where there’s a bit of fat, such as the flanks, belly or thighs and injects that fat into the areas where more volume is needed. Dr. Smith pays great attention to making sure the buttocks are symmetrical and that there’s a nice definition between the lower back and the buttocks.
If you have lost a great deal of weight or have lots of sagging, he may also do a lift by tightening the muscles under the buttocks and lifting and trimming away any excess skin. If you only need liposuction and fat injections, you will have tiny scars where the fat was injected. If you need a complete lift, he generally places the incisions in the crease of the buttocks where they will later be hidden by the panty line or at the waist. Again, this will have been decided in advance. Tiny absorbable stitches are used to close the incisions. Temporary drains might be inserted to prevent fluid from collecting under the skin during your recovery. Depending on choices made during your private consultation and whether or not you have combined your buttock procedure with another body sculpting procedure, you may recover in the hospital overnight following your procedure rather than going home immediately afterwards.
RECOVERY FROM TRAVERSE CITY, MICHIGAN BUTTOCK SCULPTING
You will be uncomfortable following this procedure and, obviously, find it uncomfortable to sit. Plan to take time from work and social activities for about a week after your procedure to ensure that you have time to recovery sufficiently. If you have pets or young children at home, you will need to have someone at home who can care for them during the first few days after surgery, as you will not be allowed to do any lifting, cleaning, shopping or usual daily activities during that time. Give yourself time to heal—you’ll be glad that you did so.
If Dr. Smith inserted any temporary drains, they will be removed as soon as he has examined you and decides that it’s appropriate to remove them. The compressive garment will be worn for several weeks and, again, he’ll let you know when it’s time to stop wearing it. At first, your incision site(s) will be raised and red, but these will lighten and fade over time.
